Fans of 90s era arena shooters rejoice! Bethesda just announced today that Quake Champions will soon be entering closed beta, which you can sign up for here. The announcement came via a new trailer (seen above) that shows off some of the kickass gameplay.

Anyone who was a PC gamer in 1999 will remember the close rivalry between Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Arena, both of which were released just months apart and revolutionized multiplayer FPS. Epic has been busy working on a revival of Unreal Tournament that’s actually pretty great considering it’s a free to play game, so this announcement of Quake Champions, comes at the perfect time, making it feel like it’s 1999 all over again.

id Software, who seem to be on a roll as of late with their fantastic reboot of Doom last year, is developing the new game.
